The Governor has issued the following notice with regard to the Hospital Ship Fund:—"ln view of the splendid response' which has been accorded all over the Dominion to my appeal for equipping thp hospital shin, I think the. time Imp arrived when a date should .he given for closing the fund. I should be glad, therefore-, if no further contributions were sent to thy Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs after "Wednesday, June 23rd. As soon as all expenses connected- with the hospital ship liavo been paid, I propose 'to, place the surplus money on deposit at the- Bank of New Zealand, and utilise it for purposes which m any way affect the- well-being of our sick and wounded, whether by the replenishment of comforts for the hospital ship, base hospitals, stationary hospitals, or convalescent homes. — (Signed) Liverpool, Governor.'' the hospital ship, in accordance viih the decision of the Imperial -authorities, will carry two chaplains—rone representing the' Church of- England and the other the Roman Catholic body. The Minister of Defence says that the staff cf the hospital ship will comply with the conditions laid down .f< r the training camp, and will not be supplied with spirituous liquor exceot en the order of a medical officer. ft is necessary to include in the medical stores ascertain amount of stimulants for use when the sick and wounded are on board.
