ROAD BOARDS

STOKE

The monthly meeting of the Stoke Road Board was held at Richmond on Saturday last. Present: Messrs J. E. Bartlolt' (chairman), H. T. Palmer, Thos. B. Ohisnall, A. P. Afiport, and D. Giblin.

The Overseer (Mr J. Glon) reported that- since the previous meeting in company with the members of the district he had visited ,Mr Dunn's section at Tahuna. Mi' Dunn was absent. On Eden'f-. road, Apple by, tho work of plougiung, harrowing, gravelling, and raking in ruts had been completed., Handrails had been erected at the culverts on Patoii'h, Jiu.'ch's, and Malcolm's reads, Hope. Repairs were m progress on Bell's, road, Appleby. Church'and Berxett's roads. Hope, refiuirnd patching and the road at^Hope School Corner required gravelling. A hour, a couplo of da.vs' work was necessary filling in ruts on Clover road, Appleby. " The report was aduptetl. It was resolved that Mr Dunn be advised that ib will be necessary, for him ar, his own, cost to put in a pipe drain of sufficient size to carry the water across his- section. -• •' It was resolved on lett««.>from.the Tahuna Progessive Association to give poti<'.-.< to ov,--t>'-s c-cxM-!' It v.as resolved in reply to a request of the NVJson City Council with regard to extension of gas supply to Tanuna that, the board would require plans of the proposed work to be sub-| mitteu for approval, ond it would be] a 1 condition to any consent that might be given that the City Council should maintain all trench lines for twelve^ months, keeping and leaving same at road level. 1 - It was 1 "solved to reply to an inquiry from the Nelson, that fche proposal to advance the hour of iVparture of Monday's down, train from Gleniiope from 5.5 a.m. to 6.50 a.m. would be satisfactory to the1 residents of the Board's district. It was resolved that an anonymous letter on the subject .of stray cattle lie on the table. It vas-■resolved that Giblin's road, Stoke, be ploug'ied and formed for a, width of !6ft. Accounts amounting; to £31 6s were passed for payment."
