CHAUFFEUR'S EXPERIENCES.

A chauffeur formerly employed 'by an Edinburgh gentleman, who is now in the Motor Corps at the front, writes las follows to his former master: "I came under fire for the first time on November 5, and I had my first close shave on the 23rd. I had to nip off suddenly with an artillery officer who had an order to deliver to a how|itzer battery at all costs. I got him round in timo to the guns, and when they opened fire they played dreadful havoc among the Germans. Of course as soon as our guns commenced firing, the Germans began to | drop shells all round, and coming back; one of their sharpnels went right across in front of us, and burst about ten yards away.
