SOME NEW REGIMENTS.
All sorts of new names have been created among the regiments recruited for the war in England. In the early stages many thousands were declined by the military authorities in consei quence of their not being up to the requisite height. As time progressed, ho wo rer, it was recognised that every man was wanted at the front, and consequently it was decided to allow these men to join 'up. As a consequence, we now hear of "Bantam" battalions being attached to nearly all the leading territorial regiments, and very proud they are of themselves. Among the famous new corps are those entirely recruited from".' the legal profession. Naturally they rejoice in the title of "The Devil's Own," and promise great things. In this latter connection it is interesting to not© that the "Deut-j sche Juristenzeitung" asserts that up to January 25 no1 fewer than 1279 German jurists have heen killed in action, amongst whom are hundreds of civil offers, justices, and magistrates.
