THE DARDANELLES.

WARSHIPS AGAIN IN THE

STRAITS;

SINKING OF THE BOUVET,

TWO MUSE FIELDS CROSSED

GALLANTRY OF THE CREW

Paris, March 25

A despatch from Tenedos states that warships and mine-sweepers re-entered the Dardanelles on Tuesday.

The Bouvet crossed two mine fields when approaching the exit to the Straits. The commander cleverly avoided two mines , which were destroyed, and blew up amid cheers. A third struck the cruiser near the magazine.

The commander set an example to his men and officers. He stood to attention and saluted the flag.

All cried, "Vive La Franco!" as the ship went down.

The Gaulois, which was following the Bouvet, and firing all her guns, went to her at full speed, in the hope of rescuing the crew* but her own injuries forced her to anchor.
