NATIONAL RESERVE CORPS.

The National Reserve throughout the Dominion has been constituted with t.ho object of increasing the military resources of the country as regards defence by enlisting the assistance of those who have served in any of the forces of the Empire, and also of other citizens who are in sympathy with the objects of the Reserve. These objects are, in case of national emergency, to make themselves competent to take a place in the field, on garrison duty, or such other work as may he required, and in time of peace to lend their sympathy and assistance in all matters dealing with Dominion defence by actively supporting the same and by doing their best to instil into the minds of the youth of the Dominion the fact that it is their duty to cheerfully serve their country. The branch of this' corps now established in Nelson, is about 100 strong. The executive desire to increase the strength to a full company of "250, which will eventually become officered to the full" complement.- It is urged that it is the duty of all those qualified, and not already identified with any military organisation, to enlist in this corps and do their share towards the carrying out of the above objects. Drills are held every Monday evening in. the Drillshcd under competent instructors, and the secretary is in attendance to enrol new members.
