"THE COURT CARDS."

Originality always counts in theatrical productions, and "The Court Cards," the latest arrivals in musical costume comedy companies, claim to have achieved distinction in this as a feature of their entertainments. Miss Maude Fane, comedienne, who appears as Queen of Hearts, is said to possess many attributes which should _ make her title a reality, for, in addition to being endowed with a rich mezzo voice, she dances and acts charmingly, and has a naive way of rendering smart, humorous trifles'. Miss Renee Maude is Queen of Diamonds, and is the pos-i sessor of a light, flexible soprano. The Queen of Clubs, Miss Winifred i Mitchell, utilises a bow in preference to the warlike weapons that her title suggests. Sydney Marmering, known of old with the Troubadours, now appeal's as a Knave of Clubs; his coknave is George Grayistone, basso. George Titchener, King of Clubs, utilises his royal prerogative to dispense humour, while the King of Spades, Albert Keats, works at a piano, occasionally using a fine baritone voice. Lastly, there is the Joker, Edgar Warwick, quite as irresponsible as such a card is entitled to be. Such is the hand to be dealt to the audience at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday | next, when "The Court Cards" commence their season of four nights. The box plan opens at 9 a.m. to-day at Jackson's.
