PATRIOTIC ENTERTAINMENT.
The Fete of Nations entertainment given in the Theatre Royal last evening in aid of the Red Cross and Belgian Relief funds was nofc largely patronised. A capital programme was presented under the direction of Mr. William Lints, the various songs, dances and marches, including a new fairy lantern march, being generously applauded. The Band of the 12th Regiment who tendered the entertainment, turned out and played selections outside the theatre. Our Murchison correspondent reports that the Belgian Relief Fund benefits considerably from takings in Murcl json on show day and the day following, and from other sources. The proceeds of the Mataki sports held some weeks ago amounted to £6 net; proceeds from Mr Reid's exhibition of African curios on 'the show ground, £5 18s; sale of tickets for doll given by Miss Lester, £5 Is; sale of buttonholes and rosettes 10s 7d; auction on ground of doll, ion, oggs and sheaf of wheat, to ius lid; net proceeds of dance on show night, £2 3s 2d. On the sale day a stler presnted by Mr. George McNee brought £3. Three vegetable marrowy given b y Mrs. R. Fairhall brought £13 10s lOd. The total proceeds for the two days came to £42 14s 6d. The price realised for the marrows is probably a record for the Dominion.
