ARTILLERY RESERVE CORPS.

EIJ3CTION OF OFFICERS.

(From "The Colonist," Feb. 25.) A meeting of the Nelson Artillery Reserve Corps was held at the Drill Hall last evening. About 20 members were present, and Mr Hobbs was voted to the chair. The secretary announced that 54 ballot-papers lor the election of officers had been issued, and 50 were returned. The result of the election was as follows: —H. C. Cock, C it. Cooke, and W. Rogers. In the terms of a resolution passed at a previous meeting, Mr Cock, who received the highest number of votes, becomes officer commanding the corps, and Mr Cooke and Mr Rogers senior and junior section officer.* respectively. In returning thanks for lus election, Mr Cock suggested that the seniority of officers be left to those elected to arrange. A motion to this effect- was moved, but an amendment that the result of the ballot stand was carried by a good majority. Mr Cock then took the chair, again thanking^ members for the honour done ' him, ana promising to do his utmost !to advance the welfare of the corps. ! (Applause.) Mr Cooke also thanked members for 1 electing him to the post of senior officer. Mr Rogers wired from "Wellington re-o-rettinf his inability to be present. " It was resolved that the services of the corps be offered to the Government. Mr N. Williams was elected a member. After discussing several matters relating to the future working of tho corps" the mooting adjourned. Martin, McConchie, fcicGregor, Rurfrnan, Thomas, Thomson. "B" Sub-section (Sergeant Hobbs): Anstice, Atkinson, Aydon, sen., Bamford Batchelor, Bisley, F. Cooke, Karsten, Kitchingman, H. S. Martin, Shea, Trott. "C" Sub-section (Sergeant Hamilton)- Aydon, jun., J. Chapman, Cresswell Hargreavets, Ladley, Mansson. Mayo, Nesbit, Richards, Sherwood, Stewait, Williams. "D1' Sub-section (Sergeant Hurst): Betts H. Chapman. Clayden, Fleming, Harfo'rd, Lane Marris, Maginmty, Nalder, Naylor, Rayner, Slinn. Major B. K. Madigan, N.Z.F.A., and Lieutenant J. T. Brough N.Z.F.A., are members of the Reserve, but as they already hold commissions in theiSew Zealand Reserve of Office's (H.Z.F.A.) their names are not included m the above list.
