TAKAKA.

(From "The Colonist,1' March 15.) A fire occurred at Hamama on Tuesday afternoon, the residence of Mr. G. D. Reay, a.recent arrival in the district, being burnt to the ground. The house, a fairly new one, was purchased by Mr. Reay from Mr. Ralph Petterson about six months ago. There was a policy of £100 on the house, and £100 on the furniture, both, I believe, in the Phoenix office. The owner's loss is far in excess of these amounts. Two days after the fire Mr. Reay received the sad news of the sudden death of his father at Brightwater. Mr. and Mrs. Reay have the sincere sympathy of all in their series of misfortunes.
