PERMANENT PICTURES.

At the Theatre Royal last ni^ht "Tho Peril of 'the White Lights;' '"A Royal Romance-," and supporting; ' pictures wore shown for the last time. To-night there will bo a complete change of programme; and the star feature, "will be the latest drama by the, celebrated Cines "Company, the producers of "Quo Vadis." It is entitled "His Solemn Oath." The story tells how the widowed mother of the Hon. Dudley Fitzwarren. whon at the point of death, compels her son to swear on oath never to fight a duel. Three-..years later, at a charity fete, ho strikes a man.who lias insulted the fjiii ho lores, Dorothea .St. ■ Cross. Tiic usual challenge is given, but he refuses tp.^fight. The.:members, of his club ask him to resign. Dorothea refuses to listen to any explanation, .so, ostracised by his friends, he leaves for a distant colony. While there he volunteers for an expedition against the natives. In the meantime he-rescues a child.'from a. ruffian who is thrashing lier, and takes her under his protection. The expedition starts,. and Dudley distinguishes himself- by conspicuous bravery, and, his selfrespect restored "and he totally cured of his infatuation for the girl who-could not trust him, his, thoughts turn to little Mariori©, whose love at some: future time he hopes will console him for the- past- Another drama, entitled "Little JvJiintuck," is a charming, story of an independent little trnmp of ten years oi; aq;e and an old man who grows to love the child as his son. Sevoral fine scenic films, a "Warwick Chronicle." and some amusing comic pictures complete this programme. On Saturiday next an American police drama, "The-Third Degree" (5000 feet), will be screened. .COUNTRY TOUR. Takaka will be visited on Saturday.
