Dunedin, Oct. 7. A former resident of Dunedin, writing to a relative under date September 7th from Ho 110, Philippine Islands, says:—"The North German Lloyd mail boat Princess Alice, from Europe, via Suez, to the Far East, switched off to Manila for safety, and cleared afterwards for Shanghai. She was later seen steaming in the direction of German New Guinea, and subsequently turned up at Kamboanga, Philippine Islands, with a hole in her. Sh© then went to Cepti, where she is resting on a sandy beach while* being patched up." The writer does not mention bow the vessel was damaged.
