PATRIOTIC FLOWER SHOW.
The Drill Hall was crowded last evening when the flower show and bazaar in aid of the Empire Defence Fund was brought to a successful conclusion. Business was exceedingly 'brisk at the tea kiosk and the various stalls, and a general-clearance'of unsold articles, flowers, etc., was made by a sale kindly conducted by Mr Alfred Gould. The Citizens' Batfd played selections out-1 side the hall, and the orchestra again rendered .patriotic items. The flower-j selling, in charge of Misses O. .Hornei and F. Snodgrass, realised a considerable sum. ' It," is notified in another column that j prize money won in connection with the j show will be paid out by the hon. treasurer of the Horticultural Society (Mr J. Wigzell) at Messrs Bisley Bros, and Co.'s, and all prize money not claimed by Monday will be considered a donation "to the fund. " The competitions, etc., resulted as follows:— „ ~ ' ■_, ■ Sheep, weight 6Olb: Mrs Izard, Mr F. Love, Miss M. Bruce, and Mr H. _A. Shone all guessed the con \ tit weight. Cake No." 1: Miss Haytw. Pot; Plants: Mrs Stiles. Cake No. 2: Mrs Thorpe and Mrs Andrew each guessed the number of sheik (569). Doll in cradle: Miss Dimant. Doll No. 1: Mr P. B. Adams. Cauliflower: Miss Connie Shield. Garden seat. Mr J. WigzelL Ham, weight lolb 13o&: Mrs R. B. ] Jackson and Captain Matthews each guessed 1531b. Doll Nancy: Master Frank Snodgrass. Winners of competitions, etc., are requested to claim their prizes at the Hall this morning. 1 The tota' gross takings at the show and bazau? amount to over £150.
