EXCURSION TO MILFORD SOUND.
PROPOSED SERVICE BY ARAHURA \ . - .r . ■
I Mr B. M. Wilson, general manager of 5 the New Zealand Tourist Department,, has written to the Town Clerk (Mr G. A. Edmonds), who controls the local bureau, in reference to a suggestion made by the Department that the s.s ( . Arahura on her weekly run to the West Coast should continue; one trip a month during December, Jaiiuary, and February as far as Milfoul Sound. Mr Wilson asks that some indication of the number of people likely to make the trip should be ■ given, and whether it would be possible for Mr Edmonds to arrange for a certain, number of persons to join a personally -conducted party which would make the trip to Milford. Mr Wilson also forwarded a copy of a letter received on the subject from the Union Steam Ship Company, in which it is stated that such a trip could be arranged in the Arahura,_ leaving Wellington on Saturday, via Picton and Nelson^ arriving at Mijford Sound on Tuesday, and passing through Nelson again on the Thursday. To warrant the extension to Milford Sound a minimum of £150 passage money would be required, and the single fare from Nelson would be £4. The Company also offered to make more than one trip a month if the support warranted it. Anyone interested in the matter should communicate with Mr Edmonds.
