Last evening the Theatre Royal was again very well patronised when tho current programme was screened for the last time. To-night a change will be presented, headed by a grand Lubin production, entitled "The Special Officer," Daddy Bowno, janitor and special officer of the Boonville Bank, with his wife and son Tom, who is^ paying teller, live over the bank. Knock Gage, the president, and Daddy have been friends since boyhood, and Tom is engaged to Graces Gage, the president's daughter. Duncan Ross appears on the scene with a get-rich-quick scheme under the name of the Wireless Power Company. He gets in the good graces of the president, who rents him an office and introduces him to his daughter and the patrons of the bank. Ross becomes a lion in town, the citizens fall over one another to buy the bogus stock, and Grace is infatuated with the sleek city man. The stock,: air having been sold, ho .prepares to make his get-away. He notifies the Board oi Trade that ho will give a banquet, and will regretfully leave in two days. Tom and Daddy both have suspicion® of Ross, and one evening Tom catches the confidence man trying to embrace Grace. Ross is promptly knocked insensible. Tom . decides to leave the bank, but urges his father to prevent Ross from drawing the money. Iho old man, being in possession of the combination of the safe, removes, the money and hides it in the cashier s desk." Next morning Ross requests his money, and the safe is discovered to be empty. An alarm is given, and the citizens mob the bank. Daddy restores the money as Tom and the post office authorities pounce on the confidence man for' fraudulent use of the mail. Daddy is congratulated, and Tom and Grace embrace- for good. Together with , this excellent star subject, a strong supporting program3iio will bo screened. . , COUNTRY TOUR. Motueka will be visited as usual tomorrow, when a specially good programme' will be submitted, headed by a gorgeous Pathe production, entitled "A Hero after all."
