VISIT OF AUSTRALIAN TEAM
The visiting Australian oi-ickctcrs arrived overland from Cbiistchurch by the 7.10 train last evening. They were met bj member?, of iho local association, and driven to tho Masonic Hotel, whore they will be accommodated during their stay. Owing to .yesterday's heavy rain it lias been decided to do lay tho start ol' to-day's'game till 2 p.m. in tho hope that the wicket by that tjmc will be ia better condition. Mr Frank Harford, of Trafalgar street, has offered a modal valued :it £2 2s to the player making the highest, score for Nelson. The visitors will be tendered a civic reception by the Mayor at the Council Chambers at 10 o'clock. The' Mayor also invites citizens to observe the usual weekly half holiday from J2 o'clock (noon). In order to afford country-people an opportunity of witnessing both days' play, the usual 4.30 p.m. train to-day will be delayed until 5.45 p.m., and tomorrow a train will be run from GlenI hope arriving in town at eleven o'clock and leaving"for Glenhope at 6 p.m. Full particulars of the running are advertised in this issue.
