London, March 4

Gould, who was arrested on a charge of 'espionage, has been remanded tilt the 11th inst.

Mr. Bodkin, K.C., stated that a letter in Gould's letter-book to a correspondent in 1903 showed that his real name was Schroeder. He fought in the Franco-German war. He visited most parts, of Europe as a member of the secret service for a foreign Power.

Mr. Bodkin remarked that Gould was a spy in Great Britain for many years. He told a former school fellow that he was anj agent of the German Government, '.Letters in his letterbook proved the. payment of money, and also a request for two hundred marks.
