"An international conference rnpresenting thirty-three countries, including China, Siam, and Guatemala, resolved to act in concert in the compile ation of a map of the world on a -scalft of sixteen miles to the inch, designed not primarily to please the eye, or forartistic effect,, but as a thoroughly reliable record of the surface of: the globe.
