STATEMENTS TO WANGANUI

Wanganui, May 28

At a meeting of tho Wanganui Presbytery to-day it was- stated that in view of tho rapid development of the New Zealand Mission in Canton villages, the mission council there has urged that Professor Hewitson, of Dimedin, convenor of the Church Foreign Missions' Committee, bo sent to investigate personally the claims of tho growing work. It is also-stated that two representatives of the laymen s missionary movement will accompany him. The Presbyterian Church is being further urged to set apart the Rev G. McNour to give his whole time to the training of Chinese preachers, _as it is claimed that there is no-more important work than this to make a selfsupporting church. It is also proposed that Canada and New Zealand < should unite with Amorica in maintaining a strong college in South China.
