SUCCESSFUL INITIAL FUNCTION.

, Marton, Feb. 13. The Marton A,, and P. Associatino's sliow wag held to-day in boisterous weather on the raceoouree. The attendance was very good, and the financial results far exceed all expectations. One and ail voted the show a big success. The function was officially opened by tho Premier, who heartily congratulated the- .association and •settlers <>fl their successful efforts. The entries wero large and representative, and competition keen. In cattle W.' Birch..secured all the North Devon .awards; "TMeKenzie, Jerseys; J. W r. JBower and A. G. Simpson, Shorthorns. : The mostprominent in sheep were: Lincoln, S. Goombes, G. L. Marshall; Romneys, J. W. Bowen. D. H. Kilgour took all the firsts in Border Leicester's, J- Dowthwaite in S'hi'onshires, G. Jj. Marshall in Corriedales, A. F. FuHerton-Smith in fat lambs and export classes, F. L. Anderson in jfarmcre',-jclassesi ; Howard and.lngiis, .and J. Wilson had a good exhibit x>f hi?me industries and dairy produce. Th^ jumping avos a feature of the show, th© entries being large, and the competition keen. The maiden hunters' -competition was won by P. Taylor; open. J. Brice's Shamrock; high.jumping, Jefferson's Emerald Isle. There was a good exhibition of draughts saddje, $nd harness liorscs and.pbniea.
