TANNERY EMPLOYEES' COMPDAINT.

Wellington/ Feb. 10. At a Chamber of Commerce- meeting to-day a complaint was loceived from the Auckland Tanneries Employees' Union as to Lhe American methods, of , allegedly "cornering" best hides in No w Zealand, and suggesting that steps should be taken to prevpnt this, otherwise tibo leather industry in New Zealand must suffer injury. Mr. iMabin, president, denied the cxi istenco of any "corner." It was simply a- question of supply and demand, and New Zealand was getting the benefit. They could not prevent a grower selling in the best market. • It was decided to reply that the Chamber did not consider'the union made out a caso in support of its .allegations.
