Wai-xMai A: Cunningham, Hockey, King, Chapman, Booth, Tr-ottj Neil -Switzier/'Brad-shaw, Sfratton, and Whitwoll.. Stolco v. Wai-Mai B : Stoke: R. Ching L. Monzies. L. Martin. R. Veysey, W. Giblin, H. Ching, C Dee, J. Holtham, P. Kenning, M. Giblin, W. Heath. WaiMai B: Thomas, Carpenter,. Fawcett, Barnett, Hollyman, Itobinson, Harrie, Nichol, Guthrie, Chapman, and Wells.

An interesting gam-* -was played on Wednesday afternoon Isetween teams representing the Civil Service and banks and insurance. The teams were.: —Service : Clark, Oldershaw, Hollymau, Parmenter. (telegraph), Stratton (Customs), Boyes (education), Harvpy (defence), Coles (police), ,6uthrie, McNeil (railway). Batiks and insurance: Heslop (Bank of New South Wales), Topliss (National Bank), Morgan, White, Ashley, Gilbert, Monsoii (Bank of New Zealand), Ne"ale (Commercial Union), Hurst (Victoria), McCabe (Sun), Webley (South British). Civil Service won a well contested game by 6 goals to 4. After''play had been gbing sometime Clark scored for the Service, and before the end of the spell Coles, Clark, Stratton, and Harvey had increased the score to 5 to nil. In the second spell, however, banks and insurance scored 4 goals (Heslop 2, Hurst, McCabe) to 1 (Coles). Just on time another banks shot narrowly missed. The "Servants'.' team were all .hockey players, biit several of tho banks and insurance XI. were non-players. Mr. Floyd (telegraph) refcreed; • Next Wedne&day Wakatu (ladies) will playthe Nelson juniors, -.and on the following Wednesday there is talk of holding a six-a-side for house- teams. Last Saturday's games did not produce anything out of "the; ordinary in -theVay. of. hockey. '",: The meeting of Motueka and Stoko was a very even go, and Motueka only pulled- tho game out of tho ■'"fire just as time sounded. Of their four games Stoke have lost three by only one goal, and in at least they.very nearly, won,. In the Federal v.~W;aimai B match the former had an easy win; and the B's were seldom dau-

gerous,

Motueka will hare to improve a, lot \ on last Saturday's play if they want to come cut on top. Stoke have improved, and in,tho second round v/hen some of. the leading teams meet Stoke they will find they are up against a hot combination. College appeared in 'the ladies' senior championship for the first time this season, and there was somo speculation as to their strength. They, however, went down to Kia Oi-a by 4 to 0, which does not look very promising. .

The junior men's game provided a close finish. ■: With Federal two goals to the good, with- a. few minutes.to:go, the gam© seemed won, but Waimai quickly put in two-goals, the second just as timo. was sounding.' -.: .. - -

Owing to the heavy rain this week

having made the present fields unplay-

ablo, the executive has decidod to postpone the junior Federal v Wai-Mai match, and to play only the, two senior matches on a field running parallel with Hardy street., This field should be dry by to-day, and tho senior teams will n.» doubt appreciate the alteration.

Tho Nelson v Wai-Mai match, which has been postponedi twice, * will be played, and Stoko will play Wai-Mai B. The former match should attraci a good attendance, as both these teams havo | not «uffered a defeat this year.

" Th 0 Stoke v. Wai-Mai 'B match will be pla.yod at 2 p.m., and players are requested to bo on the field sharp to time. Quito a number of players aro in the habii, of getting over the iron gate on the Milton .stieet side of the Reserve. The fes\ilt it that often non-players follow suit. It would be much better if all players would enter by the main gate, which is on the corner of Hardy and Milton streets.

Canterbury will play Wellington today for tho New Zealand Association's shield. The following are the teams :— Canterbury: C. Bellamy, W. Chambers G. Sherwood,. W. Duffield, D. Snell, H. Thorp, W. Patrick, E. Hulbert, W. Harington, T. Gelletly/ E. Green. Wellington : R. Dwyer, Baker, McEldowney Parton, C. Campbell, R. Thompson, G. and C. Strack, Aiidrews, G. Davies, E. Loader. Tliis year Canterbury are .sending xip a very strong team, and the result will tie -awaited with interest. If Wellington retain the shield., Auckland, will play- them. next.
