PUMPS' QUITE EFFICIENT,
| United Press Association.]
Cisborno, June 28
Captain Hart etates that the pump>ing test was in every way satisfactory. Forty minutes' pumping last night reduced the water in No 2 hold two feet, and in No 1 hold 2 feet 9 inches.- On** hour's pumping to-day reduced the water four feet, and the second hour proved that th<j pumps were more than able to keep tho ' water down. The Terawhiti's pumps had not been used, thatvessel being eiigr.grd in laying anchors.
Capta in Hart .ciated that as far as the diver could ascertain, tho. vessel was perfectly sound structurally. In. the engine room an angle plata between the framo and the tank had started, but ifc was not of serious consequence. There was no .sign of a leak, the on^imj and boiler room (]t>i:/--ri-nents_iemaui'ng quite dry; i:i fact, if the ship was cut off at thi? bow the af Ut part fioatoffi intact.
A rumour that the machinery was displaced wa« unfounded.
