The replies of prominent Germans to English statements recently published ill the "Journal Nordundsund" generally attribute the root of the trouble to English envy of Germany's pr6sperity, and Germany's growing competition.
The manager of the Deutscho Bank attributes tho misunderstanding to a small group of Chauvinists in both countries, whose clamour drowns the voice of the reasonable majority.
Herr Bassermann denies that Germany is aiming at equality with Britain. She does not desire to encroach upon Britain's supremacy at sea.
