AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT.
THE RAILWAY TO MURCHISON
ITS EXTENSION JUSTIFIED

In the course of conversation with Mr Atmore, M.P., on tlio return trip from Murchison yesterday the Hon W. D. S. Maodonald, Minister for Public Works, stated that when he was in Wellington heSvas told that if ho came> over to Nelson and took a trip through tho narrow Buller Valley, he would sea very good reasons for preventing the railway from going any further. On the contrary, the Minister said that he had boon much impressed with the necessity for pushing on with the railway from Glenhopo at a greater rate to give tho settlers more facilities, and he was quite satisfied that the district deserved it from tho extent and quality of tho land ho had seen.
