Alfred Smith was found guilty of breaking into a house at Randwick ; also of shooting at Mr Thompson, the occupier, with intent to murder him. He was sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment on the first count, and to life on tho second count.

The .Judge remarked that he -would leave it to the Executive to decide what term the sentence meant.

Two burglaries we-ro reported to-day both resulting in small hauls.
