A meeting of the Nelson Builders'and Contractors' Industrial Union of Employers. will bo held at Mercer's room to-night at 7.30.

The annual mewting of the- Nelson branch of the S.P.C.A. will be held in tho Bishop's schoolroom to-morrow evening*, at 8 p.m. Tiie committee-will meet at 7 p.m.

An old man namod Abbott was brought to Nelson last night by the Hina from Takaka. He- is now in the hospital .suffering from injuries consisting of severe burns on the arms, sustained by falling into a fire after a seizure. The suffererjXjvbp is about 82 years of age. is in a serious condition.

In "connection with the sites offered to the Labour Department for the erection of workers' homes, it should be mcintioned that on the one offered by Mr. T. Pettit, in Kawhai street, is a dwelling house, and if tho value of this is taken into consideration, the cost of the sections instead of being £67 each, would be reduced to £50.

Territoriails from this district wiio were unable to attend the recent camp at Tapawera will proceed to Blenheim by tho Patoena to-morrow morning to attand an auxiliary camp to bo held at Spring Creek. Those who have not yet obtained uniforms will be provided with dungarees to slip_ ever their civilian clothes while working in camp.

A strong force of police, under Sergt. Mullany were in attendance at the Maori Pah on Sunday last on the occasion of the funeral of the late Hemi Matenga, and the Natives much appreciated the fact of their presence, althaugh fortunately their services were not required, the largo crowd, between two and three thousand people, behaving in a most seemly manner.
