The chairman stated that Mr. Savage was out of town, and would not be present.

Mr. Watson was asked to act as secretary.

The- chairman _ stated tho business-'----they had to consider was the appoint--ment of a secretary and treasurer. _ Tho Rev. B. L. Thomas took exception to the chairman . having opened some communications before the meeting began. There had been an unintentional irregularity. Tho chairman objected to the spirit Mr Thomas had shown from tho first. The communications ho had opened were addressed to himself, and two which, were marked outside "Secretary," ho had not opened. Ho had not read tho communications he had opened. He harf suen other chairmen do the same thing,, to expedite the business. Mr. Easda-]© considered the chairman, had clone quite right. _ Mr. Watson said if the communications had been brought open to the meeting ho would have objected, but seeing they were opened in the room in tho presence of the members present h<> could not see- anything in the"objection. Mr Thomas said the communications not have been opened until the chairman was authorised to deal with them.

E. Cook, E. Fisher, Percy E. Jones, S. F. Sherwood, and Miss' I. Greig. Mr. McConchie moved, and Mr. ~Winu sett seconded, that a ballot be taken- to reduce the list down to three names, which was carried.

While, the ballot napers were bein^ gone through, Mr. Thomas said the retio.ution clearly stated that tho list was to be reduced to three names, some of the members had not left three names. The whole thing was irregular, and ho entered his protest against that ballot.. Mr. Karsten agreed with Mr. Thomas that three names were to be left on the papers for the first ballot. The names of Messrs. Gilbert, Sherwood and Vercoe went to the second ballot-, and the final ballot was between Messj-s. Gfilbert and Vercoe.

The chairman declared Mr. Reginald' Gilbert duly elected ;> s secretary" wad treasurer.

The meeting then closed
