LORD ASHTON AND HIS EMPLOYEES.

A DETERMINED STAND,

Owing to Socialist attacks Lord Ashton, who employs thousands df linoleum manufacturers at Lancaster, notiikd the employees that all who aro not satisfied must leave, as he would rather close the works permanently than advance wages at present. It the- works aro closed owing to a railway or coal strike no wages will be paid. Only loyal men will bt» kept on when trade is bad. He is determined to end the present intolerable situation regardless of the cost. Lord Ashton is regarded as a model employer. He contributes enormous sums io local benefactions.

Leading members of tho Labour Party regret that Lord Ashtoii has been described as their robber. _Mr Clynes states that Lord Ashton's sympathy with trade unionists is well known.
