TAPAWERA STOCK SALE.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— We hold our Tapawera sale on Friday last, when we offered a very largo yarding of stock to a full attendance of buyers who were present from Westport, Karamea, Murchison and the surrounding districts. With the exception of a small lot of lambs, tho whole of our entry found new owners. The sa'e opened a little quietly, buyers being cautious owing to the continual dry weather. However, as tho sale progressed, a hardening tendency was noticeable, especially with store wethers and sound mouth ewes. Lambs met a. dragging sale. However, this class of sheep should find better competition later on, as they will be required for the bush burns.

The following are a few of our sales : Good sound mouthed ewes, 8s 9d, 9s Id, 9s 6d, 9s Bd, 10s ; failing mouths 6s, 7s 2d, 8s 3d, 8s Gd; broken and gummies from 4s to 5s 6d; store wethers 8s lid, 9s id, 9s 8d; lambs in forward condition from 7s to 7s 2d ; other sorts 3s 7d, 3s 9d, 4s, 4s Cd, 5s 2d; full mouth Romney rams from 20s to £2; other sorts from 10s to 15s.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. report as follows on their Tapawera and Thorp© stock .safes held last week. At Thorpe, on Thursday, only a small entry of sheep came forward but at Tapawera on Friday we had an exceptionally heavy yarding of all classes. Young and sound mouth ewes sold well, there being a good enquiry, but old and culled sorts were neglected and owners had to reduce their reserves to effect sales. With few exceptions the who^e lot of our entry was sold at the following rates: Mixed ages and sound mouth breeding ewes 10s, 10s 6d, to 11s; aged' ewes 6s 2d, 7 S 6d, to 9s 9d; aged <-«■«, low condition, 4s, ss, 5s 7d; culled ewes 2s to 3s 6d; small lambs 4s 6d, 5s 7d, Gs 6d and for a good lino of well forward lambs from Baton estate 10s.
