The Wellington Diocesan Synod met to-day for the election -of a liishop in succession to Dr. AVallis. who resigned owing to ill-health. The Synod went into committee for several hours. On resuming the only name submitted to the open Synod was that of the Hey. T. H. Sprott, M.A., vicar of St. Paul's parish, Wellington for many yeais. who was declared elected to the vacant bishopric by a large majority of both clergy and laity.
