SHEARERS' DISPUTE.

[United Pbess' Association.] ' Christchurch, May 6. Early . nest month the Conciliation Council will hear a dispute between tho Sheepowners' Union and the Shearers' Union. The shipowners have filed a statement.demanding. a reduction of the shearing rate from £1 to 17s 6d and other variations .of the award. The secretary of the Workers' Union in the meantime has cabled to Australia, warning men there of the possibility of a reduction. ■ , The case is causing very'stro^j feeling locally.
