THE FUNERAL OF QUIRKE.
Pahlatua, April 14. The funeral of the ' lato . Michael Quirke,-the victim of Monday, night s tragedy in Palmerston North, took place this afternoon in drenching ram. The preSiminary servioe in the Gathojuc Church was conducted by >the Itev Fathers McKenna and Hickson, the latter being a cousin of the deceased. A large congregation was present; including Mr Henry Overton; The cofiin was smothered with wreaths and stood in front of the altar. The signs of mourning were general' in town. . ; A large number of carnages and, . traps followed the hearse to the cemetery.
