FATALITY ON THE POKORORO ROAD.
Yesterday tho police receive. in'ormation t'-.-u ;: > - -uig man named William Porter had lost his life, evilently from injuries received from being thrown from Ms horse. It appears the deceased was in Motueka on Monday, and left there on horseback. About one o'clock yesterday morning a party of young men found deceased lying on tho Pokororo road, and evidently believing that there was nothing seriously wrong with Porter, tlic.y . removed him to an adjoining shed, ' paid there left- him.- On the sh«l be- ■ ing visited by someone about eight , o'clock yesterday morning, the startling discovery was made that Porter was dead. Constable Pidgeon and Dr Deck went from Motueka yesterday to Pokororo to make inquiries; and early this morning Mr Evans, the Coroner, and Sergeant Dougan leave for. Pokororo, where the inquest will be held, when further light may be thrown on the fatality. • 1
