Mr Asquith breakfasted with the King. A Cabinet meeting lasting three hours followed.. There are many rumours that the Premier informed King Edward of the impossibility of proceeding with the reconstruction of the second chamber, concentrating his parliamentary force upon the House of Lords' veto.
