LORD KITCHENER'S REPORT. a notableldocument. [PIIKSS ASBOOI'ATIOH— COPVKIOHT.J Sydney, Fob 19. The "Herald" says that from every point of view Lord Kitchener's report is a notable document, completely worthy of the reputation of the great man responsible for it. He furnishes a direct, concise and entirely businesslike and workmanlike statement. When Lord Kitchener refers to the possibility of politcal interference ne places his linger on our weakest spot. The "Telegraph" declares that the report probably will disappoint expectations in some basic respects. It says nothing about equipment, munitions, and mobilisation. It hammers in the life and death significance to as* of. Imperial Navy predominance, and the petty little mistakenness of oar attempting to do anything but back vp the Navy with a well found Australian land force. Lord Kitchener gives no thought to the middle distance— the year* during which we must rest upon oar present voluntary forces, it becomes the imperative duty or Our military advisers to make these tor 3« effective during tho transition period.
