Mr Kirk, the Government Biologist,, is paying Nelson a visit.

At Richmond on Saturday, Mrs Charles Saywell, one of the pioneer settlers introduced to Lord Piunket, told him of how in the early days she once had the honour of taking the late Sir George Grey over the Hutt river, managing the canoe herself.
Mr and Mrs Rutledge, of Brimner, are paying Nblson a visit, having come to atteaid the funeral of the late Mrs Harris, who was an old friend of theirs.
Dr Gibbs left for Wellington on Saturday by the Pateena to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association.
Captain Stringer and SergeantMajor Redmond left for Wellington on Saturday to assist with the preliminaries in connection with Lord Kitchener's inspection of the volunteers at Johnsonville next Saturday.
A Wellington Press Association wire states that the Public Health Department has been reorganised. Dr T. Chamtaloup (formerly of Edinburgh) will be the 'bacteriologist for the South Island, and Dr Makgill the bacteriologist in the North Island. The District Health Officers are:— Dr Frengley, Wellington; Dr Finch, Oliristchurch ; Dr Chamtaloup, JUunedin, Dr Makgill, Auckland; and Dr De Lisle, Napier. They will also undertake advisory work for the local authorities. The Health Inspectors are the same, but their districts have been extended.
