THE ARRANGEMENTS AT WELLINGTON. THE JOHNSON VILLE CAiYIP. L CM-USD PkESS ASSOCIATION, j Wellington, Feb. 18. | The first step towards arranging j tlie Kitchener camp at Johusouviiie was made this morning by a squad of the Permanent Artillery sent out iw that purpose. 'JLlie ground is now being pegged out, and on iUonday tne squad will proceed with the erection of tents (between 500 and 600), and tne score of marquees required. Wednesday night is to see the completion of this part of the arrangements. On Thursday the supply depot will be equipped in readiness for the issue of supplies to the first arrivals from New Plymouth on Friday. Lord Kitchener will ride over tke ground on Friday, and then formulate the scheme to be carried out on the Saturday. The forces at his disposal will consist of two field batteries, a company of. .held engineers, four regiments of mounted infantry, seven oattalions of infantry, one cyclo corps, and one field hospital, altogether about 3000 men. On the Friday morning Lord Kitchener will make an inspection of the forts round the harbour, and his opinion will also be sought as to the practicability of certain proposed new gun positions. It is suggested that if possible the forts should, be manned, and the sea-rchlights (put into active operation in the evening of that day. The difficulty is that Lord Kitchener is to be entertained by tho Government at a banquet the same evening. On. Saturday evening Lord Kitchener will be the guest of the Wellington Club, ' <■
