The second annual show of the above -Association was held on the race course grounds on Wednesday, under circumstances of an entirely favourable character. The morning opened with a gloomy sky, but as the day advanced the clouds rolled back, and a beautifully fine day resulted, warm— very warm — it is true, but it wouJd have been still warmer had it not been for a delightfully cool soa breeze which freshened a"s the day advanced. •The : exhibits generally were of a very high order, and in the majority of classes more entries were received than at the previous show held in March last. 'There was a representative gathering fro-ni. all parts of the district including a number 'of -visitors from Nelson. The judges did thoir work well, and expeditiously, and it may be mentioned that in each case these gentlemen had come from considerable distances, and as pointed out by Mr.' T. Symes, President of the Golden Bay A. and P. Association (who opened the show) were gentlemen highly qualified for thoir posts. Mr. Symes opening address was brief and to. the point. He considered that Collingu-ood had reason to be proud of its show. All tho people seemed well dressed, happy and prosperous, he remarked, and a look around more than confirmed this conclusion. A short address was given by Mr. | G. H. Allan, who was well received. He pointed out their progress, which ha<l confirmed what 'he had ventured to prophecy at their first opening show. Collingwood and district, he said, was going ahead and bound to still further advance, especially in agricultural and pastoral pursuits. He thought that they were now making more solid advance than over they had done in "the Golden days of old.'"' He called for three cheers for Mr. Symes, and tho Golden Bay A. and P. .Association, which were very heartily given. Mr. • Symes returned thanks and called for three cheers for CollingTvood and its advancing show, and tho call met with a hearty response! " "~ Several telegrams and letters were read from gentlemen who wore unable to be present, including one from the Hon. It. McKcnzie, M.P. for the: district, who is at present Minister in attendance on his Excellency duriug his progress throughout this part of the Dominion. It must also be mentioned that tho officers worked well and harmouiously and a special word of praise :is duo to Mr. H. Cracknell; th 6 courteous secretary. . A special sawing competition (not on the programme) for £10 a-side was contested. Messrs F. Field and 0. Skilton v. the Hickmott Bros, and
