y Annie Lake claimed from her hnsV band, William Lake, the sum of £12, arrears duo under a maintenance , order. . . , Mr Harley, for complainant, ssid . that on 12th May, 1908, an order was . made in the Magistrate's Court for He- . femdant to contribute 10s. a week to- , wards his wife's support. Defendant . was £18 in arrears to the Court, but , had forwarded £6 to his wife direct, leaving a balance due of £12 on Janu- . ary 14th. Having heard the evidencei of complainant and the Clerk of the Court, the Magistrate made an order for the payment of the arrears forthwith, or in default one month's imprisonment with hard labour in Westport gaol, order to be suspended so long as de--7 fendant pays £1 per fortnight, in addition to the contribution under the i previous order, until the arrears are wiped off.
