RUN OVER BY A TRAM.

An elderly man named Henry Smith late licensee of the Seven Mile Pe| Hotel, was run over by a tram ii Cathedral Square, about 12.30 to-day sustaining serious injuries. It appear! that Smith attempted to board the cai bound for the Addington trots just af it was starting. He slipped and fel. under the car, one wheel passing ovei his left leg. A bystander grabbed him and pulled him out before th« second wheel ran over him. He was conveyed to the hospital where the leg was amputated.
