Henry Stephen Coburn, manager of a Wellington publication, who was found guilty of distributing obscene printed matter, was brought before the Supreme Court to-day. Mr Justice Chapman stated that he did not propose to sentence the accused. He had considered counsel's request to state a case for appeal, and had decided to do so. The -accused was released on bail. At the Supreme Court to-night the jury disagreed in the arson charge against Eberhardt Ferdinand Renner, and a new trial was ordered. Christchurch, Feb. 9. At the Supreme Court Henry Biltcliff was sentenced to five years' imprisonment for an unnatural offence.
