CARTER, THE MAGICIAN.

Carter, the Magician, and company ' , appeared at the Theatre Royal last evening before a fairly large and highly appreciative audience, in an almost entirely new programme. Mr Carter occupied the first part with a number of clever sleight of hand tricks some of which were new, and later gave a clever impersonation of Ching Lung Soq, the Chinese magician, pro- ; ducing with consummate skill basins, 1 fruit, ducks, etc., from under a cloak. Several illusions were carried out most successfully, including the "Disappearing Lady." The cabinet trick wasi also performed, and Miss Carter gave further tests of her powers of mind reading, answering a large number of questions to the satisfaction of the individuals concerned and the audience who warmly applauded her at the conclusion. The company leave for Blenhein to-day.
