REPAIRS TO THE KAIPARA.

Wellington, Feb 7. A contract was signed at Auckland yesterday for the structural repairs tc the Kaipara. Messrs Hutchison and Campbell, of WelUngton, are tbe successful tenderers at £6000. Fifteen new steel plates, each 27ft by Gft, and weighing two tons each, are being imported from Australia. About sis other plates in the hull are to be cvi and straightened, and some new frames put in. The shipping companj wall pay dock dues (£6O a day) during tho progress of the repairs, which are to be completed in forty-two days, with a penalty ef £50 a day for any further time. For the work Messrs Adams and Co's plant at Auckland will be used, and some exoerts will go up from WeUington for the job. The contract does not include anything relating to repairs to the holds, or painting or recaulking.
