RIFLE SHOOTING.

The match between teams of eight men aside from the Nelson Rifles and Nelson Defence Club took place on Saturday afternoon, when some very good performances were put up. The match was 10 shots at 500 yards, and 7 shots at 600 yards. In this match the aperture sight was greatly in evidence, there being no less than three different makes used by the various marksmen, the top score of the day being put up by a Westley-RickarJs followed -closely by the B.S.A. The match resulted in a well deserved win for the Nelson Rifles, who beat the veterans >rather badly, this being the first defeat the Rifle Club has had this season. A return match will take place at an early date on the mud flat range.
