AMUSEMENTS.

ROYAL STANDARD PICTURES. The usual bi-weekly change of pictures was made at the Druids' Hall on Saturday, and drew a full attend- ] ance at both matinee and evening • performance. Some dozen; or more films were put through the machine, and they amply rewarded the spec- ( tators for their attendance and the small sum invested. One film may bo specially referred to in unqualified terms of approval, yaz., "Othello," not only for the lucid manner in which the story is enacted by the artistes, but for the scenic effects.; the interior staging of the palaces is superb, together with the views of the grand canal of Venice, the gondoliers with the character of the story passing under the Bridge of Sighs, all go to make one of the best and most interesting films yet shown here. Another beautifully told story is the tragic story of "Lucy of Lammer- I moor," whose unfortunate love story : liko that o£ Besdemona ends in tragedy. "The Anonymous Letter" and "Rifle Bill" are of a more modern and sensational school. The travel and scenic films are first-class, while the comics are notably clever. "An Animal Fiend," who has invented a decoction that brings everything to life that it is sprinkled over, "The Extra Turn," "Dog and Bone," and "The Aviator's Experience," are certainly as funny as they make them.
