A Press Associaion wire from Wellington states that the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) has been somewhat indisposed during the 1-st few days, but he improved sufficiently on Thursday to transact a limited amount of business. His proposed Southern visit has been postponed.

Mr and Mrs H. Hall, formerly of Nelson, left Wellington for Sydney I y tho Marama last evening.

Mr F. R. Hallam, orchard inspector has received instructions from the Department of Agriculture to proceed to Tasmania for the purpose of obtaining instruction in"packing and grading apples for export. Mr HalJam leaves for Hobart on Tuesday.

A Press Association cable from Perth says that tho State Premier, (Mr N. Moore) leaves on a visit to London next week. Mr F. Wilson, Minister of Works, will bo acting Premier during Mr Moore's absence.

_Dr Frederick Lloyd, one of Melbourne's leading doctors, has passed away at the age of 82 years. For many years he was .chairman of the North Melbourne Bench.

Bob Fitzsimmons, the noteo? Boxer, and his wife have arrived in New Zealand. He will lecture on his fight with Lang, and his wife joins a vaudeville company.

The visitors to tlie Globe Hotel, Waifcapu, during the Takaka carnival week, presented Mr Herbert Nesbitt with a, testimonial and the wherewithal to purchase a watch in recognition of his services on their behalf. The presentation was made in the presence of a large gathering, the comjany joining heartily in the singing of "He's a Jolly Good Fellow."
