A STRANGE PET.

A London paper states that a spider.is. the pet of Dr Barker, the dean of "Carlisle, and of his wife. The dean, speaking of this strange pet, said:— "lt occupies a crevice in the deanery. Mrs Barker discovered it. I have tried to photograph it but this cannot well be done. \At present "if is in a dormant state. ■ ] Mrs Barker comes and tells me about it every day and she is waiting for the time to come when it will spin its little" web. When this is done Mrs Barker will continue to take care of it. Although most women have a horror of spiders, Mrs Barker is very fond of them."
