A STRANGE PET.

A London paper states that a spider.is. the pet of Dr Barker, the dean of "Carlisle, and of his wife. The dean, speaking of this strange pet, said:— "lt occupies a crevice in the deanery. Mrs Barker discovered it. I have tried to photograph it but this cannot well be done. \At present "if is in a dormant state. ■ ] Mrs Barker comes and tells me about it every day and she is waiting for the time to come when it will spin its little" web.
