BOYS' RACES. Mr J. Herbert Farmer, who was the Old Harrovians and Middlesex County I'ootball Captain from 188G-91, has -sent the following opinion for publication, which he has receivedfrom the highest medical authorities at Home, witli the hope of " saving many a boy from physical wreckage in his youth or later years." The opinion reads: — ' ■ Dear Mr Farmer,— ln reply to your, inquiry we have no hesitation in saying that we consider that school and cross-country races exceeding one mile in distance are wholly un* suitable for hoys under the age of nineteen, as the Continued strain involved is apt to. cause permanent injury to the heart and other organs.— Yours faithfully, (Signed) (Sir) Lauder Brunton • (Sir) Thomas Barlow (g r ) James F.
