A Christchurch Press Association wiro states that the present Mayor of Christchurch, Mr Charles Allison, informed a deputation that he would stand for re-election to that position. A Pahiatua Press Association message states that the Hon. A. W. Hogg, the Minister for Labour, visited there yesterday, and received a number of deputations. He goes to Pongaroa on Tuesday, and to Weber on Wednesday. During the polo tournament at Palmerston North, Mr H. Wilson had his jaw fractured by a polo stick. A Christchurch Press Association message states that Mr J. K. Davis, the first officer of thY expedition ship. Nimrod, takes charge of the vessel, and will take her te England, via Sydney, and possibly Melbourno. Captain Evans signed off yesterday, and Mr Davis took charge. Mr Norman Murray Bell, M.A.. has been appointed (states a Christl church Press Association message) by the Governors of Canterbury College, to hold the the first scholarship at Trinity College, Cambridge, England.
